Hundredweight is the moniker for the collective creative ambitions of Seth Nickerson and Philip De Jong, based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Right now, we are offering just a few art prints, but our plan is to create things that help make your workspace a more enjoyable and productive place.
Born from a desire to return to working in raw ideas and the thrill of discovery, Hundredweight is really about celebrating a love for making. In our joy of creating, we believe we have some things that will inspire, entertain and enliven you and your area.
What does “Hundredweight” mean?
Hundredweight (abbreviated cwt) is an old unit of measure with different values that was used in trading, and dates back to the Middle Ages. In the British Imperial system, it was settled on having a measurement of 8 stone or 112 pounds. Though mostly defunct, hundredweight can still be found in the weighing of anvils and bells.
